Week 1 - New Year, New found creativity!?

Helloooo,

Well, here goes. The first post of my 'diary' like blog posts. I'm not sure whether I should come up with a better title for these, so if anyone has any ideas feel free to let me know.

This week saw two years through, it was new years!! A bitter sweet new years I must add. We haven't spent new years with my Grandparents for a few years now, but as the clock struck midnight it was sad knowing that Grandad wasn't here with us. I hold onto the faith that he is here with us in our hearts and minds. Looking down on us, smiling, happy and free of pain. I love you Grandad.

New Years Eve was actually lovely. My brother - whilst rather intoxicated last weekend - invited his friends round for the night. Of course I was supposed to invite people but I'd left it that late that everyone had plans so instead I just tagged along with his mates, which I do a lot so they're used to me now. We ended up playing Guess Who and Buckaroo with a drinking forfeit at the end. A shot for whoever looses. You should try it, a  pair of really unconventional drinking games but it was funny. I was appointed the drinking games master, as I knew the most games, even though I was the only one in the room who hadn't actually been to university, so you would think I'd be the rookie- apparently not. Mushroom, ring or fire and a few other games later we hit midnight and turned the TV up to 100 and sang along to the traditional new years song (no idea how to spell it so I'll assume you know what I'm talking about). Popped some champagne, half a bottle of which went on the garden, and voila! Hello 2015.

I've pretty much spent the first four days of 2015 watching films and getting creative. I'm still using the 'its the holidays' excuse as to why I'm sitting in the same spot for the majority of the day. But I have been really getting into drawing again, I never had drawn 'seriously' but I always did enjoy it. I'll ad some pictures at the bottom of this post. Shocked and proud at how well they turned out.

It has been the perfect escape to just sit and draw, or watch a film or just be plain lazy. I'm getting a little sir crazy, not having much work on a this time of the year really is a love hate relationship. But I'm positive when it gets back to me working six long days a week I'll be looking back at these days in utter jealousy of my past lazy self.

Finally, I thought I would add that I have opened last years memory jar. It wasn't as successful as last years as it ended quite abruptly in August. However, I loved sitting and reading all the happy memories, as you really do forget how much good has happened unless you document  and save it. I have put the notes into a photo album to look back on in years to come. This year I originally wasn't going to make a memory jar, I had lost inspiration and knew I failed last year so really didn't see the point. But after reading through the memories and being reminded of all the happiness. I really can't afford to let this years memories fade away. Already looking forward to reading my 2015 memory jar.

Well I will leave you with these little sketches. Enjoy.

See you next week.
Love Alice x
