16 Things I've Learnt Being a Teenager

Me aged 13

I turned the big (and scary) 20 today. It's strange, I don't feel 20, although I'm not sure how it's supposed to feel. I've been an adult for 2 years. I don't feel like one - ha.

I'm writing this post rather spontaneously as I'm spending my birthday having a lazy morning after a busy day in London yesterday. You can see my week in my very first weekly vlog (out monday) so make sure you're subscribed to my channel - http://bit.ly/ohhitsonlyalice.

So having been a teenager for 7 years - wow - I feel like I need to summarise what I've learnt during this crazy time of life.

1. Periods suck. And will always suck.

2. You will wonder why you ever fancied that boy.

3. Spots are THE worst and most annoying thing.

4. Don't get involved with the bitching at school - you'll probably not see them when you leave.

5. Being 18 will be the best year so far.

6. Appreciate your parents, they're doing their best dealing with a stroppy hormonal teenager.

7. Forever be glad you don't have to pay for stupid things. Such as £21 for a 30 second dentist appointment.

8. Save all your photos, you will love looking back at them and cringing at your teenage self.

9. If you fail an exam, it's not the end of the world.

10. Go out, explore and have fun with your friends whenever you get the chance.

11. Don't waste your time trying to be in the 'popular' group. They will be no better or worse than you when you leave.

12. Stick at your hobbies, no matter what other things you want to do. You will regret it if you quit doing the things you love.

13. House parties are great.

14. Enjoy your high metabolism while it lasts.

15. Don't post your life story on facebook. It'll bite you in the bum.

16. Mistakes are great. Nothing like a lesson to put you on the right path and help build a better person.
